1. What is a buffer tank?

A buffer tank is a water tank installed between your heating boiler and the heating system.

2. What is the purpose of a buffer tank?

The tank adds water volume to the heating system to decrease boiler short cycling.

3. Are buffer tanks a new idea?

Although the buffer tank idea has been around a long time, the popularity of the buffer tank has increased mostly over the last decade with the introduction of high-efficiency boilers.

4. When would I need a buffer tank?

When your heating boilers are too large, or you have some small heating zones, the boiler will short-cycle. Short cycling will cause lower efficiency, higher fuel bills, and more maintenance.

If your heating boiler is short-cycling, it will save you money and decrease maintenance.
